Join us In Supporting Greensburg GreenTown
On the night of May 4, 2007, a lethal tornado, nearly 2 miles wide tore through the town of Greensburg,
Kansas. The 205 mph debris ladened winds leveled more than 95% of the town's homes and businesses
leaving a trail of wreckage more than 22 miles long. 10 people lost their lives.
Rather than abandon the community their great, great grandparents established in 1886, the people of
Greensburg recognized they had been presented with an incredible opportunity to create a new and
better future for everyone. They decided to rebuild Greensbug, green and to become a living laboratory
for sustainable, earth friendly living.
Greensburg GreenTown is the nonprofit organization established to provide the residents of Greensburg
with the resources, information and support they need to rebuild Greensburg as a model green
community following the May 2007 tornado.
Taking the philosophy of "think globally, act locally" to heart, evolve has donated hundreds of
showerheads to the town. Through this donation the residents of Greensburg will be able to save nearly
two million gallons of water per year-and the fossil fueled energy used to heat it.
